Migrating from NDM
Everything you run in NDM comes with you.
NDMX is the web version of the NDM you already use. Your data comes across whole, the move is rehearsed on a copy first, and nothing changes for your teams until you have checked the result and signed off.
What comes across
Everything your teams rely on in NDM today.
- Bookings and reports. Every booking and news report, with its reference, times and parties.
- Clients and providers. Every client, provider, reporter and guest, each with their bookings linked.
- Rates. Client and provider rate cards, with their brackets and valid dates.
- Charges and bills. Every booking's prices and charges, and the provider bills you recorded in NDM.
- Statuses and colours. Your own statuses in your own colours, so the desk looks the way your people expect.
- Report layouts. Your NDM report layouts, converted and marked Migrated in Report layouts.
The steps
Five steps. You decide when the last one happens.
A copy of your database
We take a copy of your NDM database. Your live system is untouched and keeps working as usual.
Rehearsal
The copy is migrated into NDMX, and your old documents are compared with the new ones produced from the same bookings.
Your sign-off
Your team checks the result in its own NDMX: bookings, statuses and colours, rates and documents.
Cut-over day
On the day you choose, your NDM database is migrated again as it stands that day, and NDMX takes over.
Everyone signs in
Each person gets an email invitation, or a first-time password handed out securely, and sets their own password.
Rehearsed on a copy first.
We never practise on your live system. We migrate a copy of your database and compare your old documents with the ones NDMX produces from the same data. You check the result in your own NDMX before any cut-over is planned.
Questions from NDM customers
Will our reports still look the same?
Your NDM report layouts are converted and brought across, marked Migrated so you can tell them apart. During the rehearsal we compare your old documents with the ones NDMX produces from the same data, and you check them before any cut-over. After that, the layout designer lets you adjust any layout yourself.
Do our statuses and colours stay?
Yes. Your statuses come across with their names and colours, so the desk looks the way your people expect. In NDMX each status also carries a meaning in your own words, and the rules read that meaning rather than the name.
Can we keep working in NDM during the rehearsal?
Yes. The rehearsal runs on a copy, so NDM keeps running as usual until cut-over day. Anything typed into the trial NDMX is for practice and does not carry over.
What if the rehearsal shows a difference?
We correct it and rehearse again. A cut-over date is set only after your team has signed off on the result.
What happens to the old system?
Nothing, until cut-over day. On that day your NDM data is migrated as it stands and your teams move to NDMX. We agree with you what happens to the old installation after that.
How long does the cut-over take?
The cut-over is planned with you for a quiet moment in your schedule. Most of the work happens earlier, during the rehearsal, while NDM keeps running. We give you a timetable for your own database once the rehearsal is done.
How do our people sign in on the first day?
Each person receives an email invitation or a first-time password, and chooses their own password the first time they sign in.
Do our people need training?
NDMX keeps the screens and the words your teams know from NDM. Help sits beside every page, with steps written for newcomers and a printable guide for each department.
